The original reverse design displays Miley Busiek’s depiction of a family of bald eagles in a nest. However, the in 2021, with the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle Program, the US Mint released a new design for the reverse.
As of 2021, the new reverse design by Jennie Norris features the Bald Eagle with a left-profile close-up, highlighting a hooked beak and a deep staring eye.
On this side, the inscriptions correspond to “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the two mottos “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the face value of “10 DOLLARS” and “¼ OZ FINE GOLD.”
